3 things thursday

1. I just started reading The Happiness Project book.  I came across the book at one of the many airports I traveled through in January, wrote down the title, got it for Kindle, then promptly forgot about it.  Oh, and I got the journal for Christmas.  Typical Maureen, I started the journal on Tuesday, without opening the cover of the book it's based on.  The gist of it is that you write 1-2 sentences every single day for 5 years.  It's challenging to hit on the highlights in only 2 sentences.  I started on Fat Tuesday, and I wrote about frozen lasagna.  Oh, and I also write down my beers, so I made it into a beer journal too.  If you're nice to me, in my monthly recap, I will share one of my random thoughts :)

2. I've run twice in my Brooks Pure Drifts, and they are still taking a little getting used to.  I love how wide the toe box is, and I also love the sideways shoelaces (similar to the *sniff sniff* discontinued Brooks Green Silences).  They are SO LIGHT though.  I did only 1 mile the first day, and then 3.5 today.  I was tired after today.  Maybe I just need some more practice?  I don't know if I could run anything more than 3.5 miles in them.

3. The first thing I read when I woke up this morning was this article about Oscar Pistorius.  I don't know what to believe.  Most accounts are saying that she was sneaking in to surprise him for Valentine's Day and he shot her, but then there are police reports saying that they've had domestic disturbances.  Either way, it's scary.  I hope he didn't have malicious intent.  The crazy bus for sports stars is filled, people!

  2. I have never read The Happiness Project, but I got the journal during a Christmas gift grab bag. I've been writing in it since Jan 1. It'll be interesting once I get past this year, and can start taking super fun trips down memory lane. Maybe I should read the actual book too?

    1. The quotes at the top of the page of the journal come from the book, but I don't think it's necessary to actually read the book. That being said, I started yesterday and am already 25% done with it. Very interesting stuff.
